We play PNKSLM at The Old Blue Last in shoreditch this saturday with some of our favourite garage bands. It’s going to be sick as fuck.
Crawford - I don’t know where I am. You’ve got to help me.
Crawfords girlfriend - Ok. Tell me what you can see.
Crawford - I can see a girls dress.
Crawfords Girlfriend - A girls dress?
Crawford - Yeah a girls dress. It looks like some stairs.
Passer By - Mate that is the stairs.
Black Time - White Heat Returned
From Blackout LP on Concrete Life Records (2004)
Considering both the rhythm track and organ part were both improvised in one take onto my 4-track, and I can’t play organ, I’m pleased with how this one turned out. It’s all over the shop but has a nice drunken randomness that wouldn’t be there if I’d worked out a proper part. This was recorded at the kitchen table of our old flat in Tottenham, which had no heat in winter - we’d go to bed as soon as we got home from work to keep warm, and was regularly infested with fleas in the summer and we’d wake up covered in bites. It was horrible but somehow I ended up spending seven years in seven sisters - never underestimate the lure of cheap rent. My vox continental died as soon as this was recorded so I couldn’t do a second take, and I’ve never had enough money to get it properly serviced and repaired. It had been trashed by an indie-pop band from San Francisco who had borrowed it for a UK tour through a friend of mine, and returned it in bits. Never trust indie-pop kids - they truly are the scum of the earth. Blogging ancient bitterness on a Friday night - it’s the dad equivalent of going out!
Check out the first guy on this 90’s warehouse rave. He’s so happy it’s hard not to smile while watching. Guy 2 not only has the most out of control gurning I’ve ever seen, but he has the greatest dance moves pulled on any dance floor ever.
